Swim 50 metres of the pool (on your front) in a specified
time of 60 seconds. This is to assess your water fitness.
Swim 25 metres of the pool (on your back) using lifesaving
back stroke with both hands held clearly out of the water, in
a specified time of 40 seconds. To rescue a casualty you will
require the ability to do lifesaving back stroke (Inverted breast
stroke leg kick)
Tow a casualty 10 metres.
Retrieve the manikin off the bottom of the pool at the
deepest part (1.5m).
Tow the manikin to the poolside and climb out unaided
and without using the steps.
A demonstration of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and
Expired Air Ventilation (EAV) will be carried out by a trainer,
after which you will be expected to attempt CPR and EAV with
guidance from the trainer.
