Birmingham Golf Link Circuit Junior Golf
FREE JUNIOR GOLF

Children under 11 years of age can enjoy free golf if accompanied by a playing adult. (FOR GOLF, WE CLASS A JUNIOR TO BE ANYONE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE)

The offer is applicable at any time throughout Birmingham's Golf Link circuit of seven golf courses.

The best time to play together is during the afternoon as there are usually fewer players on the course and you can take your time to enjoy playing golf.

A great way for young golfers to play golf on a golf course, knowing that they can be guided safely by someone they know.

9 Holes of Golf for £1.80

If you are under 18 years of age and subscribe to Birmingham's Passport to Leisure (PTL) scheme, your green fees for 9 holes of golf is £1.80 between Monday and Friday. If your not a PTL subscriber, 9 holes of golf is £3.00 during the week and £3.50 at the weekend.

Playing Golf Regularly?

For £100.00 a year, you can play as much golf as you want on all seven golf courses. The Junior 7 day a week Golf Link membership is an idea gift for anyone under 18 years and crazy on golf.

Join a Junior Golf Club

Most golf club's have a junior golf section to encourage more competitive play and administer golf's official handicapping scheme. If you have ambitions to become the next Tiger Woods or Annika Sorenstam you must join a golf club. A golf club organises competitions between its members and against other golf clubs, on a local, regional and nation level. For the gifted golfer, special training camps are organised by golf's governing bodies. Give the Golf Pro a ring for more information.

Golf Lessons for the Young Golfer

Each Golf Pro offers specially tailored tuition for the younger golfer. Give them a ring to talk through your needs.

Junior Golf Equipment

All golf shops on Birmingham's Golf Link circuit offers hire equipment especially designed for the younger player. Give the Golf Pro a ring in advance to reserve your set of clubs.

Tri-Golf

Tri-Golf is a 'mini' version of golf designed specifically for young children in infant, primary and junior schools.

The adapted equipment is safe and easy for children to use, affordable and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The clubheads for the irons and putters are over-sized to make contact with the ball easier, and the weighting of the irons means that children experience the 'feel' of a golf club. The loft of the irons will help to promote instant success in terms of ball flight.

Most of the equipment can be purchased separately.

This year so far, a lot of primary schools across the city have played golf and delivered a programme either as part of their Out of Hours Learning programme or their PE Curriculum.

These schools have all had the opportunity to take part in a taster day and now, with their continued commitment, inter-school golf tournaments are being planned for summer 2003.

If your school would like a Tri-Golf course built on some neighbouring land or a playing field, please contact:

This Forum is focused on providing opportunity to young disabled golfers and actively seeks out funding to support coaching programmes.

The partnership includes:

  •  English Golf Union
  •  English Ladies Golf Association
  •  Golf Foundation, English Federation of Disability Sport
  •  Shirley Golf Club
  •  West Hills Golf Centre
  •  Alison Nicholas Golf Academy
  •  Professional Golfers' Association
  •  Birmingham City Council

The golf professionals involved with the Forum go through disability awareness training. Once this has been done, schools from across Birmingham and the Black Country are invited to take part in taster sessions and then have an opportunity to carry on with a programme of instruction.
