18 holes.
Opened in 1933 Pype Hayes is a popular mature course with plenty of subtly curved fairways lined with gorse and broad leafed trees, firm contoured
greens and lots of deeply sanded bunkers. The key to most of the par 4's is to play an iron for accuracy off the tee as the greens are still reachable
with a middle to short iron. Don't be tempted to attack the pin on holes 3,4 and 11 as missing the green often means a dropped shot due to the
out of bounds. Play safe and be content with hitting the green, once on the greens you'll find them a joy to putt on.
It is a course which is very
forgiving and, apart from a few ditches, has no water hazards. It is not very hilly, but there are sufficient gradients to make it interesting. |
