Cocks Moors Woods Aerobic Studio



 

The aerobic programme at Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre should have something for everyone. So you should be able to find the right class for you - whatever your age* or fitness level.

All classes are taught by fully qualified instructors, who will ensure you work out at the right pace for you.

We will have a free creche from November 2 2009.

(*14-year-olds and older are welcome to some Exercise to Music classes, please contact centre for further infomation).

AEROBICS

A range of high or low impact moves designed to improve cardiovascular fitness.

An effective, high or low impact workout to increase stamina, improve coordination and tone the lower body.

SENIORS KEEP FIT

Your chance to be put through your paces with some gentle keep fit exercises under the watchful eye of a qualified instructor.

BUMS, TUMS & THIGHS

Toning exercises for those problem bits! Often includes a low impact aerobic session to burn calories and build up stamina. A great class for beginners.

CIRCUIT TRAINING

A class which allows you to work at your own pace, combining aerobics, strength training and body shaping in just one efficient workout. Suitable for all levels of fitness.

HATHA YOGA

Hatha yoga is a form of physical exercise that challenges and refines your flexibility, strength and balance. Anyone can benefit from Hatha yoga:-

  • Busy people use it to manage stress in their hectic lives
  • Elite athletes use it to focus themselves toward a high level of performance and to recover from injuries
  • You can use it, too

ASHTANGA YOGA

The practice of Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient and powerful discipline for cultivating physical, mental and spiritual health. Progressive techniques of breath, posture and movement, cleanse, stretch and strengthen the body as well as focus and calm the mind. A deeper experience of the self becomes possible through consistent practice.

AQUATONE

The benefits of exercising in the water are many. Aquatic exercise can not only enhance your cardiovascular fitness, it can also improve your muscular endurance and overall strength.

Because water provides buoyancy and support for the body, the likelihood of muscle, bone, and joint injuries is nearly eliminated when exercise is performed in the water.

Since water aerobics are often performed in chest-deep water, this type of exercise appeals to swimmers and non-swimmers alike.

STUDIO CYCLING

Studio Cycling, the name of the latest indoor cycling training system, for people of all fitness levels.

Led by a trained instructor, the Studio Cycling program rides combine a foundation of basic cycling movements with motivational coaching techniques, breathing awareness and heart rate training in specified Energy Zones.

Classes are performed on a specially designed stationary bikes. The Spinner bike allows students to control their exertion level while still enjoying the motivation of a group setting.

Participants burn an average of 500 calories in 40 minutes of non-impact, individually paced, cardiovascular exercise. Inspirational music and a fun, motivating environment ensure an enjoyable, safe and effective journey for all participants.

BODY PUMP

BODY PUMP is a non impact class designed to give your body a complete workout using barbells and weights to motivating music.

The class enables all levels of fitness to take part.

Beginners BODY PUMP - it is recommended that all Body Pump participants take part in this class before attending their first BODY PUMP class. The instructor will explain the main principles of BODY PUMP and teach you about the equipment and moves to prepare you for your first BODY PUMP experience.

BODY BALANCE

BODYBALANCE is a dynamic yoga-based stretch programme that leaves you feeling relaxed and renewed. It combines the fundamental principles and practices of yoga, pilates and feldenkrais, such as controlled breathing, concentration, flexibility and strength training to create an holistic workout that brings the body, mind and soul into a state of balance and harmony.

Please wear comfortable clothing. Shoes and socks must be removed prior to class commencing.

BODY ATTACK

Recommended for people with moderate to high fitness levels, BODYATTACK is a 55-minute cardiovascular interval training class, combining high intensity aerobics with strength and stabilisation exercises.

You'll increase heart and lung capacity and develop a more efficient cardiovascular system, together with a general improvement in general endurance and overall body strength. BODYATTACK uses simpler and more athletic moves than many fitness classes.

BODY COMBAT

BODYCOMBAT combines powerhouse moves and stances developed from a range of self-defence disciplines including Karate, kickboxing, Tai Chi and Tae Kwon do, into a 'take no prisoners', adrenaline-pumping routine. It is an empowering, athletic workout that will have you 'fighting fit' in record time!

BODYCOMBAT has been specifically designed so that everyone can participate irrespective of their fitness background.

There is no sparring or one-to-one contact in BODYCOMBAT so your safety is guaranteed.

Please inform the instructor if it is your first Combat class.

BODY JAM

With the emphasis as much on having fun as breaking a sweat, BODYJAM® is an addictive fusion of dance and aerobic moves. The blend includes the latest sounds of hip hop, funk and Latin music, together with the coolest sounds currently topping the charts.
