Mini Strokes
Mini Strokes introduces babies and younger children to water. Using bright, colourful water play equipment you can help your child develop balance, co-ordination and water safety skills. Children become more confident and learn to associate water with fun

Ideal for

  • young children aged four months to five years who love to play in water
  • we recommend children have completed their course of injections.

Please note that each child must be accompanied in the water by an adult.

First Strokes
The aim of First Strokes is to introduce young children to swimming and water based fun.
First Strokes instructors spend the lesson in the water with the children, reassuring them and developing their confidence.

Ideal for

  • confident 3 year olds
  • nervous 4-5 year olds who are not yet confident enough for Junior Strokes and would benefit from the reassurance of close personal attention.

JUNIOR STROKES

Junior Strokes

Junior Strokes pupils can enjoy FREE swimming at all Strokes pools!

Children aged four and over who are confident in shallow water and are able to follow instructions, can enrol on Junior Strokes.

Junior Strokes is divided into carefully designed stages, all in line with the National Curriculum for Physical Education.

As well as developing their swimming techniques, children work through distances, water safety and survival awards. Parents can follow their child's development in the progression folder, which will be issued on enrolment.

JUNIOR OPTIONS SCHEME

All pupils on a 12 week Junior Options course can swim FREE at all Leisure Point pools!

Pools aren't just for swimming! Strokes pools offer loads of other water-based activities. Youngsters who have successfully completed the Junior Strokes programme or are competent swimmers can learn a variety of new skills.

To enrol pupils must be

  •   Able to swim 100 metres effectively
  •   Confident in deep water
  •   Able to submerge fully and tread water

Strokes Premier Swimming Lessons could help!

Strokes Premier Swimming Lesson have been designed to cater for individual needs. The number of pupils to teacher ratio has been kept small with this in mind.

1 - 1 and 2 - 1 lessons are taught with the instructor in the water. 4 - 1 lessons the instructor remains on the poolside.

ADULT STROKES
Adult Instruction

Whether you are a complete beginner,
require a boost to your confidence or are looking for advice on your swimming technique, the Strokes Adult Swimming Instruction Programme is for you.

Whatever your age, it is never too late to learn - our friendly, experienced instructors will give you confidence and make swimming fun! Course lessons last for 30 minutes and are designed to meet all abilities.

Courses run for 12 weeks with a two week break during the Christmas and Easter holidays. By joining a course you will not only be guaranteed a place on the course but will also enjoy 4 FREE public swimming sessions and FREE skills certificates

Some sites offer a range of classes for different groups such as 50+, Women Only and Pay as you go lessons.
